About the Consortium
Driving climate action through world-class ecosystem modeling and critical land management data to support sustainable agriculture
Newly launched consortium to advance ecosystem modeling science research and commercial applications
A growing community of research, nonprofit, and commercial entities
Fostering global cross-sector collaborations
Advancing Ecosystem Models & Critical Soil Data
The Ecosystem Modeling and Data Consortium (EMDC) leverages CSU's global leadership in agroecosystem science to provide a robust platform for ecosystem models and data that inform sustainable agricultural practices.
We foster deep cross-sector collaborations between research institutions, nonprofits, and for-profit organizations worldwide. By connecting these diverse stakeholders, we enable rigorous agricultural decision-support systems for commercial entities, policy groups, and producer-facing organizations.
Advancing Ecosystem Science Through Shared Models and Data
- Connect researchers and industry with cutting-edge ecosystem modeling tools and foundational datasets
- Accelerate the development of next-generation ecosystem modeling frameworks
- Enable scientifically rigorous accounting of soil carbon stocks and greenhouse gas fluxes

A Journey of Collaboration
Building a Collaborative Platform
The Consortium concept was born of a desire to provide unified access to key models and data resources that inform sustainable agricultural practices. These digital assets are in high demand by stakeholders across research, NGOs, and private industry.
By delivering robust quantification and certification capabilities, the EMDC supports rigorous, science-based applications of agroecosystem tools that inform agricultural land management and the continued research and development of these decision-support tools.
The FFAR Grant Success
The Consortium was recently awarded a FFAR grant. that provides support for our activities through 2028, enabling us to welcome members from diverse sectors.
This funding requires a contribution from membership-derived revenues, aligning with our commitment to build a sustainable, science-led framework for navigating future climate challenges and capitalizing on emerging soil-health opportunities.
